2ndBird Creek County ParkWithlacoochee Wilderness Challenge 2009 Canoe and Kayak Race
On Saturday, May 2Starting at 8:00 a.m.You are invited to compete in the Withlacoochee Wilderness Challenge 2009 Canoe and Kayak Race. This race is recreational class only.This race is hosted by the Withlacoochee Area Residents. All proceeds raised help fund this organization`s efforts to protect and preserve our areas water sources.Registration Fees - $35 canoe - $25 kayak - $35 tandem kayak. All racers will receive a race tee shirt. If you pre-register by April 23, you will be assured a race tee shirt, in your requested size, the day of the race. Registration fee covers your entry into the race, a race tee shirt, water and various fruit.1st place prizes for each category are a small paddle with class, race date and winning designation. Ribbons for 2nd and 3rd class with class, race date and winning designation.

6thNature Coast State TrailNational Trails Day Bike Ride
On Saturday, June 6, 2009Beginning at 9:00 a.m.Old Train Depot (419 North Main Street Trenton, FL)Celebrate "National Trails Day" with a fun, open, low-key ride on the smoothly paved Nature Coast State Trail. Ride options range from a few miles for beginners up to 64 miles for experienced cyclists. The rural landscape along the trail offers a peaceful experience for family ride groups and the historic railroad bridge that crosses the Suwannee River near Old Town is a favorite destination (about 12 miles from Trenton) Maps of the trail will be provided.Refreshments will be offered at the Depot and there are convenience stores along the trail. 3rdCity of WillistonJuly 3rd Celebration
Once again the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce partnering with the City of Williston for July 3rd festivities.This year`s event will be held on Friday, July 3rd. The holiday will begin with a parade on Noble Ave. beginning at 5:00 p.m. Immediately after the parade festivities will continue in Williston Horseman`s Park. The gates to the park open at 6:00 p.m. admission is free and the ROTC will gladly accept a $2.00 donation for parking.The evening will feature free amusement rides and pony rides for the children, great food and craft vendors.Opening ceremonies begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be immediately followed by entertainment for the entire evening, capped by the BEST FIREWORKS in the area, compliments of the City of Williston For more information call (352) 528-5552

The lighthouse on Seahorse Key in the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge is only open to the public a few days per year and this is one of them. Open 9-4.
